Additional Event Details

Each Science Cafe meeting features three panelists who address a monthly topic as it relates to his/her experience and expertise. After each speaker's brief talk, the audience asks questions and discusses the topic. The moderator, Dorothy Graves, Ph.D., fills in the gaps and facilitates questions. January's topic is "The Science of Social Media -- Pros and Cons." Panelists will discuss the positives and negatives of social media as a widely used global communications and jobs/recruiting tool. This week's guests are: Jerard Gardner, M.D., associate professor, depts. of Pathology and Dermatology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; Natalie Ghidotti, APR, president/CEO, Ghidotti Communications; and Sebastian Montes, Cyber Division, Little Rock Field Office, FBI.

Prior to each Science Cafe, moderator Graves hosts a companion radio call-in show on NPR-affiliate station KUAR FM 89.1 from 6:05-6:30 p.m. The radio show is a casual conversation between Graves and one of the evening's panelists and gives listeners the opportunity to ask questions of an expert.
